A Step-by-step timeline to help you plan your project

Get In Touch With Us
Fill out the contact form located under the “contact us” tab, or you can call by phone: 410-881-9010. We’re a small team so if we don’t answer, please leave a message and we will call you back. You can upload photos of your existing space on our web form if you have them handy. If not - no worries! You can come back to it later or follow the instructions we’ll e-mail you automatically after you submit your information via our website or phone.
Start a Phone Consultation
You will be able to book a time to chat on the phone to discuss your vision for the project. This includes the scale, scope, budget and any related details. This is the time to disclose everything you’re looking for. This call is typically 5-10 minutes.
Site Visit & Preliminary Estimate
Based on the information from our discovery call, a member from the BirdDog Sales team will come out to your project site prepared with solutions for your space. We prepare a rough estimate of the project cost based upon the scope of the work and predetermined allowances. Typically, our rough estimate is within 5% of the final estimate, and sometimes nothing more. This process usually takes 1-2 days. Upon completion of the rough estimate, we will email you the proposal and schedule a follow up call to see what questions you have regarding it.
Design Agreement
Once you are comfortable with the rough estimate, we will prepare a Design Agreement that spells out the details of the design process and the costs associated with the design. After all the design is finalized, we will send over a Contract Build Agreement for the scope of the work. Occasionally if no design work is needed, and can skip this step.
Design/Schedule Deposit
Once you have received your Preliminary Proposal and have decided you would like to move forward in the design process with us, we will collect a small deposit which is typically 2-3% of the project’s cost. We then gather a little more information from you and set up an initial in-person meeting to begin to finalize the details of the project together.
Build Agreement, Pland and Permitting
With a Build Agreement in place, we will begin working on the structural drawings and other documents required to obtain a building permit for your project if necessary. We will then file for your building permit and work through the process (which can be daunting) to get building permits approved. Simultaneously we will start getting any tradesmen such as HVAC or Electrical familiar with the project.
Pre-Consruction Meeting
Most times, our team will do a virtual online meeting with you to review the details of your project one last time before we break ground. Sometimes we have this meeting on-site, but we have found it more efficient for everyone to conduct this meeting online.
Construction Starts
Upon receipt of the permits (if needed), your project is clear to get underway! Materials are ordered and equipment mobilized. Once everything is ready, DEMO BEGINS!
